A curling team representing the Rotary Club of Peterborough has returned home with a silver medal after competing at the 2026 Rotary World Curling Championships in Stranraer.
The tournament, held from April 3 to 10, brought together Rotary curling teams from Canada, the United States, Scotland and England to compete in an event focused on sport, fellowship and international goodwill.
The Peterborough team finished second overall after a strong showing throughout the championship.
Team members included skip Ken Seim, vice-skip Nick Avlonitis, second Joe Kapron, lead Bill Crins and alternate lead Moe Grant.
“This result is a testament to the dedication and camaraderie of the entire team,” Avlonitis said in a statement. “Representing Peterborough Rotary at a world championship and coming home with silver is something we’re all incredibly proud of.”
The championship is organized through the International Curling Fellowship of Rotarians, one of more than 100 Rotary fellowships worldwide that connect members through shared interests.
Founded in 1921, the Rotary Club of Peterborough has supported a range of local and international initiatives over its history, including projects connected to Five Counties Children’s Centre, Camp Kawartha and the Rotary Accessible Playground at Riverview Park and Zoo.
The club currently has nearly 70 members and celebrated its 105th anniversary earlier this year.
