The Peterborough Baseball Association is stepping up to the plate this summer with the inaugural Steve Terry Classic Baseball Tournament.
A total of 52 teams from across Ontario in the 8U through 11U divisions will compete at diamonds across the city, including Bowers Park, East City Bowl, Kinsmen Park, and Brinton Carpet fields from July 23rd to 26th.
Bob Neck, President of the Peterborough Baseball Association, says the tournament is a way to continue to add to the legacy of baseball in Peterborough.
All proceeds from the tournament will go to the PRHC Foundation in support of youth mental health initiatives.
Opening ceremonies are scheduled for July 23rd at 5 p.m. at Bowers Park, where tournament honouree Steve “Trout” Terry will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
Event organizer Candace Massie says the tournament is dedicated to Steve Terry because of his extensive background in youth mental health.
The Peterborough Baseball Association is also looking for volunteers and sponsors to help make the inaugural event a success and to support the Peterborough community and young athletes.
