The annual Smile Cookie Campaign has delivered a major boost for local charities, raising more than $136,000 in support of children, families and animals across the region.
Eighteen Tim Hortons locations in Peterborough, Bridgenorth, Lakefield and Curve Lake took part in the 2026 campaign, benefiting Five Counties Children’s Centre and the Peterborough Humane Society.
A total of $136,711.96 was raised and will be split equally between the two organizations, with each receiving $68,355.98.
Five Counties says its portion will support its Building Abilities for Life campaign, aimed at improving access to high-demand therapy services for children and youth with physical, developmental and communication needs.
The Peterborough Humane Society says its share will help fund animal care programs including sheltering, medical treatment and adoptions.
Organizers say the campaign’s success was driven by strong community participation, with hundreds of volunteers helping decorate cookies, greet customers and promote the fundraiser in stores.
Local schools, businesses and residents also contributed through bulk cookie purchases, helping to significantly increase overall donations.
Five Counties CEO Scott Pepin thanked volunteers and Tim Hortons staff for their support, calling the community response inspiring.
Peterborough Humane Society CEO Shawn Morey also expressed gratitude, noting the funds will directly support animals and families across the region.
Nationally, the 2026 Smile Cookie Campaign raised a record $23.3 million for more than 700 charities across Canada.
