The season opener for the Peterborough Musicfest’s 39th summer of free concerts isn’t until late June but live music fans were treated to a sneak peek on Wednesday (May 13).
Details of 13 concerts were revealed at Quaker Foods City Square in downtown Peterborough, with three concert headliners yet to be announced.
Juno Award-winning pop singer and keyboardist Gowan will open the season June 27th followed by performances by the likes of Good Lovelies, Sass Jordan, Lighthouse, Dwayne Gretzky, Crash Test Dummies and Trans-Canada Highwaymen to name but a few.
Musicfest winds up August 19th with a night of ‘50s and ‘60s rock ‘n’ roll headlined by The Dreamboats.
Musicfest executive director Tracey Randall spoke to the significance of nearly four decades of live music in Del Crary Mark.
Randall confirmed the Future Sounds series, which features pre-main show performances by local acts, is returning and has been expanded to more concert nights.
Randall noted despite the ongoing support of multiple Musicfest sponsors, putting together a 16-concert lineup is a challenge that never gets easier.
