Two Peterborough residents are facing charges after an alleged indecent act on a public trail.
Police say officers were called at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 10 to the trail area near Sherbrooke Street and Water Street after reports that two people were engaged in a sexual act on a bench while families and pedestrians were nearby.
Officers located two individuals matching witness descriptions in the area and took them into custody.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with committing an indecent act in a public place and being intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence Control Act.
Police say he was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 4, 2026.
A 43-year-old Peterborough woman has also been charged with committing an indecent act in a public place, along with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
According to police, the woman was already bound by probation conditions requiring her to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
She was also released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 4.
