Residents in Peterborough are being invited to help select a new public art installation planned for the downtown transit terminal.
The project will feature vinyl murals installed on columns and exterior areas of the Peterborough Transit Terminal as part of the broader Simcoe Street rehabilitation project.
City officials say the artwork is intended to enhance the terminal’s visual character while also improving accessibility, safety and wayfinding for transit users.
Three artist teams have been shortlisted following a competitive selection process under the city’s public art policy. The finalists are BAU & ĆOS Studio, made up of Andres Ulises Bautista and Novka Ćosović; artists Casandra Lee, Joshua Morley and Sahira Said Jiddawy; and artist Jerry Rugg, also known as birdO.
Each team has submitted a video presentation outlining its proposed concept for the site.
Residents can review the concepts and vote online through May 25 at the city’s public engagement platform.
The city says public voting will count as one component in the overall selection process. A Public Art Jury will review the submissions alongside community feedback before the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee endorses a final design.
The winning artwork is expected to be installed in early September 2026.
The project is funded through municipal investment along with support from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
