If your child is attending kindergarten up to Grade 3 with a developmental or learning disability, the Five Counties ‘Ready for School’ event can help make this upcoming school year more comfortable.
The event is being held all over the region and provides preparations for students who have disabilities or exceptionalities for the next school year this fall.
PTBOTODAY.ca spoke to Hayley Hodges about how the program helps parents get more comfortable with their kids preparing for school.
The program is designed to help families gain the knowledge and the experience to better prepare their children in attending school for the first time.
The event will have a panel of parents sharing their experience with their children transitioning to school. Discovery of resources such as IEPs that support your children in the school system; and education about the 6F’s of child development and how to help introduce your child to the unique needs of a new school setting.
Children are welcome to participate in supervised, play-based activities for them while families participate in the informative part of the Ready for School event.
The event will be held in Peterborough on May 30 at Five Counties at 872 Dutton Road.
