A 35-year-old Peterborough man is facing an armed robbery charge following an incident near train tracks Thursday night, according to the Peterborough Police Service.
Police say an officer was flagged down by a passerby at about 10 p.m. on May 7 and informed about a robbery that had just taken place between Aylmer Street and George Street North.
Investigators allege the victim had been walking near the train tracks when he was approached by another man who brandished a knife and demanded his belongings.
Police say the victim handed over several items before fleeing the area.
Officers later located a suspect matching the description provided and took him into custody.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with armed robbery.
The accused was held in custody and was scheduled to appear in court Friday.
