The Township of Selwyn Township says Chief Administrative Officer Janice Lavalley will retire this summer after more than 37 years in municipal government.
Lavalley will step down effective June 30, ending a long municipal career that township officials say helped shape the organization and its services.
Mayor Sherry Senis said Lavalley’s leadership and long-standing commitment to municipal service left a lasting mark on the township.
“Janice Lavalley’s leadership and dedication have helped shape the Township of Selwyn into the strong organization it is today,” Senis said in a statement.
Council has appointed Jennifer Moore as Selwyn’s next chief administrative officer, effective June 1.
Moore brings more than 17 years of executive municipal experience and most recently served as chief administrative officer with Northumberland County.
Township officials say her background includes strategic leadership, financial and asset management, infrastructure oversight, council relations and community partnership development.
Senis said Moore brings strong leadership, financial expertise and a deep understanding of municipal governance.
Moore said she is looking forward to joining the township and working with council and staff.
“With strong roots in Peterborough County, Selwyn feels like home,” she said.
Moore holds an honours bachelor of commerce degree with a minor in economics and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
