The Kinsmen Club of Peterborough has donated $6,000 to support the accessible playground project at Riverview Park and Zoo.
The donation was presented yesterday with funds raised through the 2025 Father’s Day Classic Car Show and Fundraiser.
The project aims to improve accessibility by reducing steep slopes and creating more inclusive play spaces. The Zoo, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Peterborough, is working to raise $1.5 million through Project ROAR to fund the upgrades.
Mayor Jeff Leal said the contribution helps move the project forward and highlights the impact of community fundraising efforts.
The Kinsmen Club will host this year’s Father’s Day Classic Car Show on Sunday, June 21, from 9 am to 2 pm at Riverview Park and Zoo, 1300 Water St. The event will include live music, a barbecue, prize draws, and a 50/50. Admission is by donation, with a rain date set for June 28.
Vehicle registration is $10 in advance or $15 at the gate, with all entries required to be model year 1999 or older. Registration can be completed online at kinsmenclubpeterborough.ca/kinevents or by contacting Barry Craft at 705-292-5171 or bcraft@nexicom.net.
