Nicole Roy and Thomas Kitchen
Fleming College celebrated the achievements of its varsity athletes at the 53rd annual Phoenix Varsity Awards Banquet.
More than 130 student-athletes were recognized across sports including soccer, volleyball, loggersports, basketball, and rugby.
The Loggersports program led the way following a double gold national championship season, earning multiple top honours including Male and Female Athlete of the Year, Female All-Around Athlete of the Year, All-Academic, and Coach of the Year.
Major award winners included:
- All-Around Athlete: Nicole Roy (women’s loggersports), Ryan Clarke (men’s volleyball and soccer)
- Athlete of the Year: Nicole Roy (women’s loggersports), Thomas Kitchen (men’s loggersports)
- Rachel Spearing Award: Sara Petersen (women’s rugby sevens)
- Kris Starr Award: Sayre Hart (loggersports)
- Adam Evans Award: Jacob Ricker (loggersports)
- All-Academic Award: Sarah Porter (women’s loggersports)
- Coach of the Year: Al Cavers (loggersports)
- OCAA Academic and Athletic Excellence: Ashley Smith (women’s rugby sevens)
Team MVP honours were awarded across all varsity teams, while Rookie of the Year awards recognized top first-year athletes in each program.
In addition, 30 student-athletes were recognized for achieving honours-level GPAs while competing in varsity sports.
