Michelle Willson
The Municipality of Trent Lakes is preparing for a senior leadership transition as Chief Administrative Officer and Treasurer Donna Teggart announces her retirement after 21 years of service.
Teggart began with the municipality in 2005 as Deputy Treasurer, became Director of Finance/Treasurer in 2009, and was appointed CAO/Treasurer in 2019.
Mayor Terry Lambshead credited Teggart with steady leadership through major challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic, a severe ice storm, and a drought, adding that she will be “greatly missed” by council, staff, and residents.
The municipality has announced Michelle Willson will take over as CAO beginning Monday, April 27.
Willson brings more than 20 years of public sector leadership experience, most recently serving as CAO for the Township of Brock. Her background also includes senior finance and housing roles with York Region’s community housing company and leadership positions at Ontario universities. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant with a Master of Arts in economics from the University of Waterloo.
Willson said she is “honoured” to join the municipality and looks forward to working with council and staff.
Mayor Lambshead said her experience and leadership style will be a strong fit for the organization.
The municipality says it will begin recruiting for a new Treasurer in the coming weeks.
