A closer look at how stormwater is funded in Peterborough is coming up next month, with residents invited to learn more and ask questions.
The City of Peterborough is hosting a public information centre on its Stormwater Management Fee on Tuesday, May 5 from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Peterborough Public Library on Aylmer Street. The session will be held in the Friends of the Library room on the lower level, with a presentation scheduled for around 7:30 pm.
City staff will be available throughout the evening to answer questions about the ongoing Stormwater Management Fee and Rate Study.
The session follows a change implemented in 2025, when the City moved away from funding stormwater services through general taxes to a dedicated fee that now appears on water bills for residential and business customers. That current fee is based on property value and is considered a temporary approach while the City studies a more long-term model for how charges should be calculated.
Residents who can’t attend in person will still have an opportunity to take part. Information from the session, including presentation materials, will be posted online, and feedback can be submitted at ConnectPtbo.ca
A physical feedback form will also be available at the meeting and at City Hall. Submissions will be accepted until May 22.
