Residents will have a chance to weigh in on proposed accessibility upgrades to the playground at Riverview Park and Zoo in Peterborough.
A public drop-in session will be held tonight from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Rotary Education Centre, 1300 Water St. N. Project staff will be on site to answer questions and gather feedback.
A public survey is also available at connectptbo.ca/zoo, with paper copies available at City Hall. The survey remains open until Friday, May 1 at 11:59 pm.
The project is part of a multi-year plan to improve accessibility by reducing steep slopes and making the playground easier to access. Riverview Park and Zoo is working with the Rotary Club of Peterborough to raise $1.5 million through Project ROAR, a community fundraising campaign supporting a new accessible and inclusive playground.
City councillors Lesley Parnell and Alex Bierk said in a joint statement that the goal is to ensure every visitor can “play, explore and feel included” while using the space, and encouraged residents to share feedback to help shape the design.
More information, including updates, a site plan, and survey results, will be posted at connectptbo.ca/zoo. Questions can be directed to 705-742-7777 ext. 1829.
Donations can be made at riverviewparkandzoo.ca/support-us/donate, and campaign details are available at peterboroughrotary.ca/page/rotary-accessible-playground.
