A 25-year-old man from Peterborough is in a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-altering injuries following a serious single-vehicle collision in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
The Ontario Provincial Police says officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment were called to Ranch Road and Valentia Road in Mariposa Township at about 8:16 a.m. on April 16th, along with fire and emergency medical services.
Investigators say the vehicle left the roadway and entered a body of water. The driver was initially transported to a local hospital before being transferred to a trauma centre in Toronto for further care.
Due to the vehicle entering water, the Ministry of the Environment was notified. Police say there are no public safety concerns.
The roadway was closed for a significant period during the investigation but has since reopened.
OPP are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash camera or video footage to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
