STUFF TO DO
Thursday: Opening Reception – Less Work, More Play — Lang Pioneer Village Museum from 2–4 pm at 104 Lang Rd., Keene.
Created by Fleming College’s Museum Management and Curatorship students, the exhibit transforms the Ayotte Cabin into an interactive experience exploring 19th‑century settler life. Reception in the Peterborough County Agricultural Heritage Building includes a student emcee, speeches from students and faculty (from 2:15 pm), hands-on activities, and light refreshments. Free event.
Thursday: Kawartha Lakes Funders Forum — Free forum from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at Victoria Park Armoury, 210 Kent St. W., Lindsay. Presented by Kawartha Lakes Economic Development and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, the event connects communities, Indigenous groups, nonprofits, economic development stakeholders, and local businesses with funding organizations. Attendees can learn about available programs, eligibility, supports, and how to prepare strong applications to strengthen regional capacity.
Friday: Nicholas Campbell & The Metre Cheaters – 3rd Annual Concert and Album Release — 8 to 10:30 pm at The Historic Market Hall. The band returns for their annual spring tour, promoting their third album People Like To Talk (released January 26). Special guest Jamie Oliver, The Country Crooner from Toronto, joins the show. Enjoy an evening of rockabilly, honky tonk, and rock ’n’ roll at Peterborough’s premier live music venue
Saturday and Sunday: Peterborough Home, Garden and Cottage Show — Returns to Healthy Planet Arena from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 am. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Presented by Forest Hill Real, the show is ideal for anyone planning a project at their home or cottage.
LOCAL SPORTS: Support Our Teams
Thursday: Kawartha Lacrosse Pre-Season Practices & Tryouts — Pre-season outdoor turf practices and tryouts begin this week at Fleming East Turf Field on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6–8 pm. Additional players are sought for a second U13 team (born 2014–2015). Registration is required for all participants.
Thursday’s Schedule:
- 6–7 pm: REP U11 Tryout
- 6–7 pm: REP U9 Practice
- 7–8 pm: REP U19 Pre-Turf with U19 JEWL Elite
