Two people are facing charges following a traffic stop in Peterborough that led to an arrest on outstanding warrants and the seizure of fentanyl.
Police say officers spotted a vehicle near Victoria Avenue and Reid Street at about 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers recognized a passenger as someone wanted on several warrants, including robbery with violence, theft under $5,000 and multiple counts of failing to comply with court orders.
She was taken into custody without incident. A search following the arrest allegedly turned up 0.9 grams of fentanyl.
A 24-year-old Peterborough woman has been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance, in addition to the outstanding warrants. She was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 1.
Police say the driver, a 52-year-old, was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving while under suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
