Peterborough’s MP says she’s ‘disappointed’ that Pierre Poilievre came to the riding to oppose the Alto high-speed rail project.
Emma Harrison took to Instagram on Tuesday, speaking in support of the project which she says will create jobs and grow the economy within the riding.
Harrison added while she is in favour of Alto, she won’t ignore those who have concerns about their homes, farmland and the environment.
The duration of the development and pre-construction phase is estimated at four years, until 2029-2030. The high-speed rail proposal will then be submitted to the Government of Canada for approval to proceed.
According to the latest estimates, construction will be carried out in phases, each estimated to last between 8 and 10 years.
During a visit to the area, Poilievre says his party would cancel the proposed Alto rail project, arguing it is too costly and slow to deliver.
