Lakelands Public Health is inviting residents to help shape the future of community health through a series of upcoming town hall sessions across the region.
The Community Town Halls are designed to provide an open forum for residents, organizations and health-care providers to share ideas, concerns and priorities that will help guide future public health planning.
“Public health affects nearly every aspect of our daily lives,” said Dr. Thomas Piggott, Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer with Lakelands Public Health. “We want to hear directly from residents about what challenges they’re seeing in their communities and what supports would make the biggest difference.”
Each session will begin with a brief overview of services offered by Lakelands Public Health, followed by interactive discussions and opportunities for attendees to provide feedback. Participants will also be encouraged to complete a short survey to further contribute ideas on strengthening local programs and services.
Officials say input gathered during the sessions will play a key role in shaping future initiatives.
“These conversations are an important part of ensuring public health services reflect the evolving needs of the people we serve,” Piggott added. “Community voices are essential in shaping what comes next.”
Town halls are scheduled for April and May in Haliburton County, Northumberland County, the City of Kawartha Lakes, and the City and County of Peterborough.
Additional sessions will also be held in Alderville First Nation, Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation, along with an urban Indigenous virtual session. More details will be shared directly with those communities.
Residents can register online through Lakelands Public Health’s Eventbrite page, while those unable to attend in person will have the option to participate in a virtual session.
