Spring’s arrival is seeing thoughts turn to what remains Peterborough’s largest annual one-day fundraising event.
Registration is now underway for the 25th Peterborough Dragon Boat Festival set for June 13th on, and around, Little Lake. The goal has been set at $325,018.01. As has been the case since day one, every penny will go towards cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
Festival chair Michelle Thornton says, to date, $4.9 million has been raised, with the benchmark $5 million mark certain to be passed this year.
Thornton says while the cause is a very serious one, ensuring the day is fun for participants has been, and remains, a clear focus.
Thornton says the focus now is on team registrations, with a lot going on behind the scenes.
Oldies 96.7, Freq 90.5 and PTBOToday is returning as a media sponsor of the event.
