Marentette’s Mission and Milk + Tea Brewing Confidence have announced the success of their recent fundraising partnership, which raised funds to help feed Peterborough’s most vulnerable.
The limited-time campaign donated a portion of proceeds from select baked goods and specialty items. From sourdough bagels and cinnamon rolls to cookies and bubble tea kits, the initiative drew strong support from the community while raising awareness of both organizations’ missions.
Thanks to the community’s generosity, over 120 individuals in need will receive a nutritious, homemade meal. Each lunch, prepared by Milk + Tea Shop, includes ham and cheese sandwiches, fresh bagels, hearty chicken noodle and lentil soup, hot coffee and tea, and cookies. Meals will be served in partnership with Street Level Advocacy of Peterborough, which provides direct support to people experiencing homelessness and hunger.
“This partnership was a huge success,” said Petes defenceman Thanasi Marentette. “The community’s support has allowed us to turn this fundraiser into something tangible, providing real meals and real support to people who need it most. I am confident this will become an annual event.”
The campaign also supports Milk + Tea Shop’s ongoing commitment to inclusive employment, providing training and jobs for young adults with Down syndrome and individuals with disabilities. Owner Philip Cho said, “We’re extremely grateful for the response from the community. This partnership allowed us to give back meaningfully while continuing to invest in inclusive programs central to our mission.”
Following this success, Marentette’s Mission is exploring additional partnerships and initiatives to further its goal of uplifting the local community.
