Additional charges have been laid as an ongoing sexual assault investigation in Campbellford continues to grow.
The Ontario Provincial Police says the investigation began February 21 after a complaint was reported. The alleged incident is believed to have taken place the day before at a commercial property on Front Street North in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
With help from the OPP Crime Unit, officers say the accused was arrested four separate times as new complainants came forward. Those developments led to nine additional charges, with the most recent laid March 19.
Police say more individuals have contacted investigators following the initial release of information.
As a result, Adam MacMillan, 43, of Campbellford, has now been further charged with nine counts of sexual assault.
The accused remains before the court.
Investigators have released a photo of the accused in the interest of public safety and to encourage any additional victims or witnesses to come forward. No further details are being released at this time.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim or has information is asked to contact the Northumberland OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
Support is also available through local victim services. Police note there is no statute of limitations on sexual offences, and reports can be made at any time.
