A 34-year-old man from Markham is facing a shoplifting charge following an incident in downtown Peterborough.
Police were called at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, to a business near Charlotte and Aylmer streets. Officers spotted a man matching the suspect description on Charlotte Street. He attempted to flee but was caught after a brief foot pursuit. A security alarm jammer was recovered during a search.
The accused was charged with theft under $5,000 and is wanted in four other jurisdictions for similar offences. He appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court on March 22nd and remains in custody.
