Peterborough singer-songwriter Tristan Konkle has been named the Peterborough Folk Festival’s 25th Emerging Artist, earning showcase performance stage time at this year’s festival in August.
Konkle was chosen from a record number of submissions received for the distinction which, in the past, has been awarded to the likes of Serena Ryder, James McKenty and Melissa Payne.
Along with the award, Konkle also earns a trip to the annual Folk Canada Conference where he can interact with agents, promoters and other top Canadian musicians.
Konkle says his being named the festival’s Emerging Artist is still sinking in.
Konkle is particularly excited about the opportunity to perform under his own name.
Konkle speaks to his evolution as a performer and as a songwriter.
Konkle’s newest release, Killing Time, can be heard at https://youtu.be/SzGMksWZb_I.
