Former Peterborough MP Maryam Monsef is hosting her second women-empowering ONWARD event on March 31st.
Billed as A Conversation about the Status of Women in our Community,” the gathering at Market Hall is a follow-up to last year’s initial ONWARD event that sold-out the venue. With the Peterborough and the Kawarthas Chamber of Commerce on board as a partner, the event is being held in honour of the late Ann Farquharson who was a fierce supporter of women’s health and safety.
Topics covered will include women’s leadership, economic empowerment, gender equity and intersectional barriers.
Monsef says ONWARD grew out of a desire to accentuate the visible and invisible work that women do in the face of tariffs that were levied by President Donald Trump.
Monsef says ONWARD is about giving women a united and influential voice on matters that seem beyond their control but are worthy of open discussion.
Monsef provides an outline of the event’s agenda.
The 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. event will feature podium comments from Monsef, Chamber president and CEO Brenda Whitehead, Peterborough MP Emma Harrison, DBIA executive director Nour Mazloum, Curve Lake artist Missy Knott, and Tiffany Arcari.
Registration costs $49.95 and can be made online.
