A 23-year-old Oshawa man is facing nine charges following a shooting earlier this month.
At approximately 9:30 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, officers with the Peterborough Police Service Investigative Services Unit, with assistance from the Durham Regional Police Service Tactical Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Simcoe Street South and Wellington Road area of Oshawa. The suspect was located inside the home and taken into custody.
During the search, officers seized a loaded firearm found among the suspect’s belongings.
As a result of the investigation, 23-year-old Chevron Millwood of Oshawa has been charged with:
- Attempt to commit murder using a firearm x2
- Robbery using a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon x2
- Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order x2
- Discharge firearm with intent
Police say the accused is currently bound by a prohibition order issued in 2024, banning possession of any firearm, crossbow, restricted weapon, ammunition, and explosive substance for 10 years, along with a lifetime prohibition on prohibited or restricted firearms, weapons, devices, or ammunition.
The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on March 19, 2026.
“I am very proud of the work of our Investigative team over the past week and a half. The long hours and thoroughness of the investigation has resulted in the arrest of the person believed to have used the firearm in our community, compromising the safety of our residents. This suspect already has a conviction for armed robbery involving a firearm and we are asking he be held in custody. We are thankful that the shooting victim is continuing to recover from their injuries and will continue to search for the second suspect involved in this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact us or Crime Stoppers.” said Chief Stuart Betts of the Peterborough Police Service.
Police say there is no indication the shooting is connected to a September 2024 incident at the same location.
