Lakelands Public Health says the local Consumption and Treatment Services (CTS) site run by Fourcast is expected to close after funding for the program ended.
CTS programs provide harm reduction services, connections to treatment, and support for individuals using substances, helping prevent overdoses and reduce health risks.
Between January 2023 and August 2024, the Peterborough site recorded more than 15,000 visits and managed 104 drug poisonings without any fatalities. In December 2025 alone, 896 people accessed services, with 28 per cent using supports beyond drug consumption, including housing, health care, and mental health resources.
Lakelands Public Health thanked Fourcast for its work supporting residents and said the closure highlights the ongoing challenges communities face amid a rising toxic drug supply.
They will continue working with local drug strategies to understand the impacts and support affected individuals.
