With the Facebook-announced closing of Jethro’s in downtown Peterborough, the downtown core is losing yet another popular live music hub.
The Hunter Street West pub will close in April, almost four years to the day that musician Kayla Howran opened it. The pub’s closure means the popular all-ages Sunday afternoon blues jam will lose its home.
Longtime musician Al Black helped start the weekly jam just more than two years ago.
It took some time but Black say the blues jam got to the point where there wasn’t a seat to be had.
Asked if the blues jam will be revived at another location, Black says that’s a possibility.
The final Sunday afternoon blues jam at Jethro’s will be held April 12th with the Jethro’s Blues Jam All-Stars headlining.
