A 38-year-old Trent Lakes man was arrested Saturday night after being found rummaging through a vehicle.
Peterborough County OPP officers responded just before 9:00 pm on March 7, after a caller reported an individual going through a vehicle. The caller stayed on the scene and contacted police while the suspect tried to leave.
Officers found items in the individual’s possession that did not belong to them. The man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failing to comply with a probation order. He was held for bail.
The OPP remind residents to keep vehicles locked, park in well-lit areas or garages, avoid leaving valuables in plain sight, and never leave keys in a vehicle.
Anyone with information about criminal activity is urged to call 1-888-310-1122 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or stopcrimehere.ca.
