A 22-year-old driver is facing a stunt driving charge after a traffic stop in Peterborough.
Officers with the Peterborough Police Service say the vehicle was stopped shortly after 11 p.m. on March 5th during a general traffic patrol on Water Street between Marina Boulevard and Carnegie Avenue.
Police allege the vehicle was travelling 99 kilometres per hour in a posted 50 km/h zone.
The driver, a 22-year-old, has been charged with stunt driving and speeding under the Highway Traffic Act.
As part of the penalty for the charge, the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
Police say it is the second stunt driving charge laid on Water Street this week and are reminding motorists to slow down and obey posted speed limits to help keep roads safe.
