Peterborough City Council has approved the 2026 Community Project and Investment Grants, providing support to local organizations while extending funding for the Electric City Culture Council through 2027.
The Community Project Grant Committee recommended 25 organizations receive a total of $20,965, with a maximum of $1,000 per grant. The Community Investment Grant Committee approved 22 organizations for a combined total of $204,070, with individual grants capped at $15,000.
Council also agreed to extend the term of the Community Investment Grant Advisory Committee to cover 2027 and to continue EC3 funding at 2026 levels. This includes $100,000 in operating funds through the Community Grants Program, $50,000 for the Grants to Individual Artist Program, and $25,000 for Artsweek in 2027.
EC3 will use $25,000 in 2026 for planning costs to ensure Artsweek runs smoothly next year. Future revisions to the Community Grants Program are expected after the Municipal Cultural Plan is completed in November 2026, which will provide guidance on the role of an arts council in Peterborough.
