The largest fundraiser of the year for the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation returns this spring, with the goal of helping send 150 at-risk kids to summer camp.
Registration is now open for the Send A Kid To Camp AXE-travaganza on May 1st at the Peterborough Axe Club. Registration costs $50, or $500 per lane, with two time slots of 5:30 and 8 p.m. to choose from. Visit www.khcas.on.ca/foundation/axe to sign up.
Foundation executive director Carrie Truman says the event, presented in partnership with Herod Financial Services, is family-friendly and suitable for all levels of axe-throwing skill.
Truman says enjoying a summer camp experience is a huge confidence builder for the kids that the Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Aid Society serves.
While raising money that will help with the cost of camp is the goal, Truman says the fundraiser also heightens awareness of the foundation and its support of CAS.
To date, the foundation has sent more than 5,700 kids to camp.
