Peterborough Police Service officers issued 25 tickets during a targeted traffic enforcement detail at several high-collision intersections on Monday.
The Traffic Unit conducted the six-hour detail on February 23, 2026, focusing on Park and Lansdowne streets, High and Lansdowne streets, Ashburnham Drive and Lansdowne Street, and Water Street and Nassau Mills Road.
Police say the enforcement resulted in the following charges:

Handheld communication device (cell phone): 17 drivers

$615 fine, three demerit points, and a three-day licence suspension upon first conviction

Red light – fail to stop: five drivers

$325 fine and three demerit points

Amber light – fail to stop: two drivers

$180 fine and three demerit points

Fail to move over for emergency or tow truck when safe: one driver

In addition, 11 warnings were issued for various Highway Traffic Act offences.
Police say driving complaints can also be submitted through the online reporting portal, noting that they will continue conducting traffic details throughout the year to improve road safety.
