Snow is set to move into the region tonight, bringing accumulating snowfall and reduced visibility across the Peterborough area.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Peterborough City, Lakefield and southern Peterborough County for Tuesday (February 24).
Snow associated with an Alberta Clipper is expected to begin this evening and continue overnight. Forecasters say total snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 centimetres are possible, with the highest amounts likely along the Oak Ridges Moraine.
Periods of heavier snow could reduce visibility at times.
Roads and walkways are expected to become snow covered and slippery as the snow accumulates. Drivers should be prepared for deteriorating travel conditions and allow extra time to reach their destination.
Environment Canada is advising residents to continue monitoring local forecasts and alerts for updates.
