With Canadians being urged not to travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico as violence explodes in the wake of a drug lord’s death, the vice-president of Peterborough-based BST Vacations says while it’s a scary situation, it’s important to keep in mind just one part of the country is affected.
Dana Empey, who returned from Puerto Vallarta prior to Sunday’s unrest, says those traveling to other parts of Mexico should be safe and secure.
Empey returned from Puerto Vallarta Saturday night before the outbreak of violence, but some family members remain there.
Empey says more information for those scheduled to depart for Puerto Vallarta in the near future is a work in progress. In the meantime, what’s transpired is a reminder of the importance of having travel insurance.
Empey adds Canadians traveling to any destination should exercise common sense to keep themselves safe.
