Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a man following the recovery of a stolen vehicle and a brief pursuit.
On Monday, February 9, officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle in a driveway. A witness spoke with the driver but was not satisfied with their explanation and provided police with a description of both the vehicle and driver.
An officer spotted a vehicle matching the description stopped on the side of the road. When the officer approached, the driver fled the scene. The vehicle was later located in Peterborough City, but the driver had already left. Investigation confirmed the vehicle had been stolen.
Peterborough County OPP learned the suspect had been taken into custody by the Peterborough Police Service on February, for an unrelated matter, and arrested the individual at the station.
Daniel Forest, 36, of no fixed address, faces multiple charges:
-
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
-

Forest was held for bail and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
