Cameron Spalding capped his Olympic debut by competing in the men’s snowboard slopestyle final at the Milano Cortina Games.
The 20-year-old from Havelock finished 10th overall with a best score of 75.13.
Spalding was joined in the final by veteran Canadian Mark McMorris, who saw his bid for a fourth straight Olympic podium come to an end. The 32-year-old from Regina finished eighth.
McMorris had battled back from injuries sustained earlier in the Games, including a concussion, bone bruising near his pelvis and an abdominal strain suffered during big-air training on February 4th.
China’s Su Yiming captured gold after winning silver in the event at the 2022 Games. Japan’s Taiga Hasegawa took silver, while American Jake Canter claimed bronze.
New Zealand’s Dane Menzies, born and raised in Alberta, finished seventh after entering the final as the top qualifier.
