Without its army of dedicated volunteers, Habitat For Humanity Peterborough and Kawartha wouldn’t be anywhere near having achieved a major milestone earlier this year.
On January 11th in Fraserville, the organization welcomed a family to its new home – the 100th family handed house keys since 2002.
Among the many who have dedicated their time and talents to Habitat For Humanity is Cindy Windover. A board member with the organization, she first became involved in 2011 when there was the potential for a build in Lakefield and the business she was with jumped on board to help.
Windover says being part of “a very forward-thinking board” has only heightened her volunteer experience. She points to the board pursuing the opportunity to purchase property for a condo development on Leahy’s Lane.
She says for volunteers involved with builds, there’s “a huge sense of accomplishment”, noting there are volunteer opportunities away from build locations, such as helping at Habitat’s ReStore on Milroy Drive.
