Two drivers were charged with stunt driving on Highway 115 within 12 hours of each other.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, an officer observed a vehicle traveling 171 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The 21-year-old G2 driver from Ajax, Ontario, was charged with stunt driving for excessive speed, obstructed plate, and driving with a window coated that obstructed view.
Just before 10:30 p.m., another officer stopped a vehicle going 159 km/h in the same zone. The 27-year-old Peterborough man was charged with stunt driving for excessive speed.
Both drivers had their licences suspended for 30 days, their vehicles impounded for 14 days, and face fines, six demerit points, and potential additional licence penalties. G2 drivers may face extra consequences for accumulating points, including possible licence cancellation.
