A new report by the Ontario Council of Hospital Unions warns that Ontario’s health care system is facing some serious challenges and urgent action is needed.
The report says the Ford government’s directive for hospitals to plan for just two per cent annual funding increases until 2027-28, will result in more than 10,000 job losses and the closure of 2,400 hospital beds.
PTBOTODAY.ca spoke with Senior Researcher with CUPE, Doug Allan.
Allan was in Peterborough on Wednesday, and says our region is not keeping up with other areas when it comes to hospital wait times.
In terms of recommendations, Allan says there is one thing that should happen immediately.
