Local artists, designers, creators, and residents are being invited to help shape the artistic landscape of Peterborough through several new public art initiatives.
Projects include a vinyl mural installation at the Peterborough Transit Terminal, a Request for Proposals for a digital artwork, and the creation of a Public Art Jury. Full details, including submission requirements, deadlines, and compensation, are available at peterborough.ca/CallToArtists.
The Transit Terminal project calls for artists or collectives to submit an Expression of Interest to design vinyl murals for the Terminal’s exterior columns and façade. The artwork will enhance wayfinding, highlight entrances and pathways, and improve accessibility and safety. Submissions are due by Monday, February 23 at 4 p.m. This project is part of a broader infrastructure upgrade partly funded through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
Meanwhile, local artists, designers, and creators can also submit proposals to create an original digital artwork to support the City’s Culture and Sport Tourism marketing, communications, and merchandise initiatives. The selected artwork may be adapted for apparel, promotional materials, digital campaigns, and event branding. Proposals are due Monday, February 9 at 4 p.m.
The City is also seeking five individuals to serve on its Public Art Jury. Jury members will review and score artist submissions, provide professional or lived experience in public art, and support the City’s Public Art Policy. Selected members will receive an honorarium for participating in up to six project reviews over the year. Applications are due by Monday, February 23 at 4 p.m.
These initiatives are designed to engage the community, support local artists, and enhance public spaces throughout Peterborough.
