A staged reading of an acclaimed play that flips the script on the male-centric history of the Canadian fur trade is coming to Market Hall.
New Stages presents Women of the Fur Trade January 24th at 7 p.m. Written by Frances Koncan, the comedy revolves around the lives of three women, all of whom speak in 21st century slang. The play was a hit at the Stratford Festival and has played theatres across Canada ever since.
New Stages artistic director Mark Wallace shares more of what audiences can expect.
Wallace says the production checks a lot of New Stages’ mandated boxes.
Wallace notes work is also well underway on the third annual Brand New Stages Festival set for February 24th to March 1st.
