It was a welcome gift from AON to the Canadian Council of the Blind Peterborough Chapter.
A cheque presentation was held on Monday in which $1250 was handed over, supporting programs for people with vision loss in the community. The event took place at 159 King Street.
AON, a local family-owned company specializing in residential, senior living, business, and leisure properties, has a long-standing relationship with the CCB. The donation will help fund programs, advocacy, and resources that promote independence and meaningful engagement for the visually impaired.
Christel Galachiuk, Chair of CCB Peterborough, thanked AON, noting the donation makes “a real difference in the lives of blind and visually impaired people in our community.” Debby Harryet, lending librarian for From the Blind, For The Blind, said the support has enabled updated resources and programming, bringing “many happy faces” to participants.
Officials say the partnership highlights the impact of local organizations working together to enhance accessibility, connection, and opportunities for residents with vision loss in Peterborough.
