A total of 11 drivers were arrested for impaired driving during a holiday enforcement period in December.
The Peterborough Police Service reports the arrests were made between December 12th and 31st. Of those, nine involved alcohol and/or drugs, while two were for refusal to comply with a roadside demand.
Police also conducted several Festive RIDE checks throughout Peterborough, Lakefield and Cavan-Monaghan during the same period. In total, officers checked 2,397 vehicles and administered 140 roadside screening tests.
Police are reminding motorists that impaired driving remains a serious offence and say RIDE checks will continue throughout 2026. Drivers are urged to plan ahead and to call 911 if they suspect someone is driving while impaired.
