A 13-year-old Peterborough boy is facing multiple charges following a disturbance at Lansdowne Place Mall.
Officers were called to the mall at about 4:15 p.m. on January 2nd, after reports of a confrontation between two groups of youths. Police say the incident began outside the mall and continued inside before security officers intervened and broke it up.
When officers arrived, several youths had already fled the area. Police later located a group matching the descriptions provided a short distance away. One youth was identified as having threatened another teenager and was taken into custody.
Police say a search following the arrest led to the discovery of a knife in the teen’s backpack, which was seized.
As a result of the investigation, the 13-year-old was charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and disobeying a court order.
Police said the youth is bound by a peace bond and has been trespassed from the mall property. He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on February 10th.
