Peterborough fire crews quickly contained a structure fire on Aylmer Street Monday evening, preventing any injuries.
The fire was reported by a neighbour around 7 p.m., and crews found flames on the main floor when they arrived.
Firefighters conducted a primary search and aggressive fire attack, bringing the blaze under control.
No one was home at the time, but a family pet was safely rescued.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and estimated damage is $250,000.
