If you need proof that Peterborough remained a very giving community in 2025, look no further than the Community Foundation of Greater Peterborough.
The past year saw the foundation grant more than $1 million to local organizations, programs and initiatives, that money coming from an invested fund that is fueled by philanthropic donors.
Since 2009, the foundation, via more than $15 million in endowed and long-term funds, has invested more $8.5 million in projects that build community vitality. But foundation executive director Jennifer DeBues says the 2025 result represents the most it has granted since the COVID pandemic years.
While delighted with the level of generosity that has seen funds directed to the foundation for investment and dispersal, DeBues isn’t surprised.
Looking ahead, DeBues says the foundation’s funding model is fine as is, with the focus on letting more people know of its work in the hope more funds are provided.
