Community Future Peterborough’s support of new and existing local entrepreneurs was relentless in 2025 on a number of fronts.
Since April 1st, CFP has approved 41 loans totaling more than $1.6 million, helping create or maintain 281 jobs. That has CFP on track for a record year of lending come the end of March 2026.
In addition, CFP’s Small Business Advisory delivered 413 consultations in 2025, with 52 percent of those supporting existing businesses and 39 percent in support of new entrepreneurs.
CFP executive director Devon Girard notes these impressive results are in addition to grants that were provided to local non-profits, charitable organizations and First Nation communities.
Girard says sharing entrepreneurial success stories is more important than ever when there are job losses in the community, noting entrepreneurship is an increasingly viable option for those affected.
Girard says the small business sector has been, and remains, the backbone of the local economy.
Since its inception in 1985, Community Futures Peterborough has invested more than $50 million in loans and grants across the city and county.
