A community gathering that supports those who have lost someone to overdose or suicide returns December 21st in a new location.
Previously held at Roger’s Cove, the fifth annual Darkness to Light will be held at the George Street entrance to Del Crary Park. Attendees are asked to arrive by 7:30 a.m. prior to the expected winter solstice sunrise.
Registered psychotherapist and Hospice Peterborough consultant Julie Brown will again lead the event, which is hosted by the Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation with support from Seven Hills Development. She says the event’s timing is by design.
Brown says her grief counselling work, and this event, share a common premise.
Brown offers advice for those interacting with another who is grieving a loss.
Hospice Grief Listeners, who are specially trained, will also be at this year’s event to lend a sympathetic ear. Meanwhile, donations
in support of suicide bereavement work at Hospice Peterborough can be made online at www.gphsf.ca.
