Canadian Blood Services is issuing an urgent call for donors as hundreds of December blood and plasma appointments remain unfilled in Peterborough.
Community Development Manager Jill Gemmiti says our community is reaching a critical point and is hopeful people will step up.
Gemmiti says she understands this a busy time of year, but it’s also a time when donations are most needed.
How exactly does the process take? Gemmiti says it’s usually around an hour.
Residents who are able to donate are being asked to book an appointment at blood.ca, or encourage friends and family to do the same. Donations can be made locally at 55 George St. N.
The organization says community support this month will help ensure every patient receives the care they depend on.
